NO VACANCY ON STAFF

Teacher Granted Extra Leave

The board of managers of the Christchurch Technical College was last evening unable to reappoint to its staff a teacher to whom it granted leave of absence last year. The teacher, Mr E. W. Fenner, left New Zealand for Britain on 12 months’ leave in December, but returned several weeks later when his wife became ill. He applied immediately to rejoin the staff, but his former position had been filled by a relieving teacher. “Unfortunately, if Mr Fenner had started again we would have been overstaffed,” said the principal (Mr D. W. Lyall). “He has, however, been offered a position at a school in Sbuth Canterbury, but it is a two-year appointment.” The board then granted Mr Fenner a further year’s leave.
