New Radio Base On Mt. Pleasant
Two 120 ft aerial masts will appear on toe summit of Mount Pleasant later this year—part of a project to provide an enlarged and improved high-frequency radio coverage for taxis and carriers.
This involves the moving of about 40 high-frequency radio base stations from Marleys Hill to Mount Pleasant. A small concrete building to house radio equipment has already been built on Mount Pleasant, below the Summit road, according to the Post Office’s divisional equipment engineer, Mr E. G. Harris. Work on installing the equipment will begin soon. The present radio buildings on Marleys Hill will be retained for the Wellington toll service and some radio channels.
