15,000 Army Meals At Waitangi

AUCKLAND, January 30.

The Army will assist the Maori Affairs Department to p ovide more than 15.000 meals for visitors at Waitangi during the Royal visit next week

Tomorrow, the Army will begin to put up about 350 tents on a four-acre field beside the Waitangi tnarae These will accommodate up to 2000 persons. Trucks carrying the tents and other stores left Auckland at dawn today Working parties will be manned by visiting Maoris and the cooking and other

work will be done under the supervision of Army special' ists, said Major W F Cox, Deputy Assistant Quarter-master-General at Northern Military District Headquarter*. today. Supplies ot food would be arranged by the Maori Affairs Department, he said. Water and electricity would be laid on by the Ministry of Works At their peak of operations, the five Army cookers would be serving meals for 3000 persona.
