Reasons for this were given today by two men prominent in different fields of Antarctic work. Mr G. W. Women could not go on field trips, so bow would they be employed? If employed at tbe base they would need an adjutant.
Mr Markham said three women had made work application, tootodfog two staters from Otago, who said they would go as cooks for the price of one. Mr J. MUlen, aged 25, a civil snginttr who led tbe Federated Mountain Clubs’ recent seven-weak field trip, considers tbe meta problem with women would be social.
