POLICE PAY INCREASED
Rises Of £3O To £7O
Revised rates of pay for members of the Police Force, ranging from £475 a year for cadets under 18 to £2480 for assistant commissioners, are announced in an amendment to the Police Regulations. The increases, the smallest £3O and the biggest £7O, are retrospective to July 26, 1962. Constables over the age of 21 will now receive £lOOO during their first year, £lO9O after three years, £ll6O after 14 years, and £llB5 aftw 20 years.
First-year sergeants will get £1260, with three annual increases of £3O, and thereafter £1355 a year. Rates for senior-sergeants range from £1425 in the first year to £1530 after three years. Inspectors will receive £1620. with one increase of £B5 after the first year.
Maximum rates of pay for chief inspectors, superintendents, and chief superintendents have been set at £1895, £2115, and £2265 respectively. Women constables in the first year of service will now get £905, increasing to £930 after three years’ service and to £955 after nine year's service. A woman sergeant in her first year will be paif £lOl5, £lO4O in the second year, and thereafter £1065.
