Survival Test For R.N.Z.A.F.
(NX Proto Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 90. Pilots and navigators of No. 42 Squadron of the RJLZAJ*. were sent into rugged, bush country behind Frilding this morning to spend two days in the open without food. Simulating survivors of an aircraft crash, the men wiU wear only their thin flying suits. After walking from Waituna West. 15 miles north of Feilding, to the Rangitikei river, they were to sleep tonight on the riverbank in improvised shelters. Tomorrow morning, a Devon aircraft will drop two dinghies to the men, who will travel in them down the river and back to their Ohakea station. All operational personnel in the Air Force undergo such survival tests.
