FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone centred near the Chatham Islands extends over New Zealand. A depression centred over the south-west Tasman Sea is moving south-eastwards. Forecast:—

Marlborough and Nelson.—Northerlies developing and becoming fresh about Cook Strait; cloudy and rather warm. Outlook: cloudy. Canterbury.—Moderate winds, north-easterlies predominating; cloudy and warm; some scattered drizzle or light rain this morning. Outlook: partly doudy. Buller and Westland.—Moderate northerly or north-easterly winds; overcast with occasional rain; mild temperatures. Outlook: occasional rain. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
