(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, January 29. A borstal trainee who escaped from his prison escort at Frankton Junction last Thursday night was recaptured by the police dog, Duke, in Point Chevalier this evening. The dog chased the escaper, Phillip Raymond O’Regan, aged 17, through a quarter of a mile of bush at the back of Chamberlain Park.

He knocked O’Regan to the ground in Burnside avenue and stood over him till his handler. Constable G. Bracey, reached the scene.

Constable Bracey said later he was searching for the prisoner* who had escaped from Auckland gaol when he was sent to Chamberlain Park. A man whose description fitted that of O'Regan had been seen there.
