rpONIGHT at English Park - 1 the first classic race of th. cash code will be decided when the Hope Gibbons two-mile wheel race will be held. The race has attracted an entry of 16 riders and on handicaps should prove to be one of the fastest seen for many years. On the scratch mark there are four outstanding riders in E. Ghiestein, D. Swanston, J. Swanston and G. Moore. These four are giving away 70 yards to R. Harrison, who is 20 yards behind F. Hooper. Hooper will undoubtedly steady himself at the start to let Harrison link up with him and these two should team well and keep up a very solid pace. 9
On the 110 yards mark are B. Spicer, J. Williams and S. McCracken, three strong riders, while J. Crofts on 850 yards and K. Neiman on 380 yards are certain to keep up a good pace in the early stages, which will cause the back and middle markers to ride hard all the way. The back men have every chance even though they are giving away such a long handicap but much will depend on how they team. The middle mark riders hold the key to the result. If they resist the temptation to slacken their pace on making contact with the longer handicap riders they should cause the back men some anxious moments.
