Car Converter Given Borstal
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 29.
Leon Henry Matthews, aged 18, a painter, was sentenced to Borstal training when he came before Mr W. J. Meade, S.M., in the Magistrate’s C urt at Auckland today on a charge of reckless driving and two of car conversion. Matthews last week admitted the charges. The Court was then told that a converted car Matthews was driving had reached 85 miles an hour through suburban streets and red lights, finally crashing against a wall and being wrecked beyond repair. Restitution amounted to £350 and the Magistrate made an order for Matthews to pay it
