Hy Qualifies As Hurdler
(NX. Prm Association) DUNEDIN, Jan. 29.
Hy was given a hurdling qualification ticket by the Dunedin resident stipendiary steward, Mr J. M. McCulloch, ait Wingatud this morning. A winner under high-weight conditiona ait the South Canterbury meeting last month, Hy will have his first test as a jumper in the Turi Hurdles at Winton on Saturday.
Bidden by his race rider, R. O. Cairns, Hy set out to jump four hurdles with Fort Lanyard (R. A. Low). He jumped straight, fast and dean and was soon dear of his companion. Being by Columcille, a successful sire of jumpers, he has the right credentials for his new rode.
