OTAHUHU SEAT
Old Boundaries For By-election (NX. Preu Auociation) WELLINGTON, Jan. 28. Mr J. M Deas, the Labour member of Parliament for Otahuhu, who died suddenly yesterday, had a majority of 2774 in the 1960 election. He polled 9247 votes to the 6473 polled by his National Party opponent. The 1962 Representation Commission abolished the Otahuhu seat and incorporated it lai-gely in a new electorate. Pakuranga. The by-election will, however. be held on the existing Otahuhu boundaries.
Early this month the Labour Party announced its candidates for 45 electorates, but the list did not include Pakuranga.
The planning of the byelection cannot begin before the Otahuhu vacancy is gazetted.
