(tail-knocked-oft) decision, the shark was circling for the kill when two Whangarei butchers, Messrs S. Hutton and R. Bignell, appeared in their new big-game cruiser CaraveDe. It was victory for the Caravelle, for Mr Hutton christened the 32ft cruiser by landing the fighting make after a 100 minute fight At 2 p.m. the Caravelle crew sighted the early rounds of the battle. By the time the Caravelle cruised doser the marlin, without tail, was lying on the surface. The angry mako cruised round anxious to swoop in for the kQL
It took no notice of trolled baits until the mortally wounded marlin was hauled aboard the Caravelle. Four times the mako came in, and sheered off. Then it took a bait
Mr Hutton had the big shark beaten in 100 minutes to give the Caravelle a fine introduction to big-game fishing success.
