COMMERCIAL Quiet Opening To Week On Stock Exchange
With the Auckland Stock Exchange closed for the annual Anniversary Day holiday, and Australian exchanges closed for Australia Day, trading on other New Zealand exchanges opened quietly yesterday. The day’s sales were restricted to 44 issues, compared with 79 on Friday. Dominion Fertiliser, in first business this year, dropped 4s to sell at 30s. Other movements in New Zealand shares were small, and evenly divided between rises and falls. Overseas issues tended to firm, though most gains were fractional.
