FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone centred to the east of the country extends over the North Island. A trough of low pressure lies across the South Island. Forecast:—

Marlborough and Nelson.—Light or moderate variable winds; variable skies; mild day temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy.

Canterbury.—Light or moderate variable winds; cloudy at first with a few drizzle patches mainly about the coast, becoming partly cloudy later; day temperatures mild on the coast, warm inland. Outlook; partly cloudy. Buller and Westland.—Light or moderate variable winds; cloudy; moderate day temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy.
