Support Of U.K. Entry

The West German Cabinet last night unanimously agreed to stand by its policy of supporting British entry to the Common Market A Government announcement issued after a special two-hour Cabinet meeting presided over by the Chancel, lor (Dr. Adenauer) said British membership of the market was “necessary for political and economic reasons.”
The statement said the Cabinet had agreed the Brussels negotiations “can and should be continued with the aim of reaching a positive conclusion. “The Federal Government remains in consultation with the French Government and the other partners in the European Economic Communtiy in this question." The Cabinet had “approved the standpoint held until now” by the Government on the subject of Britain and the Common Market.
Belgian delegates in Brussels have senit a document to the other five Common Market delegations setting out the progress in the negotiations, authoritative sources said.
