• baby weighing 161 b soz was born yesterday at Kempsey. New South Wales. The baby, whose sex and parents have not been disclosed, is telieved to be the heaviest ever born alive in Australia. The old record of 161 b 2oz vas set by a boy in Sydney in 1944 and equalled only ni. e days ago by the son of Mrs Jadwiga Sochacki, of Perth.—Sydney, January 27.
