Man Attacked And Robbed

A night attendant at the Hutt Road Service Station, Mr W. H. Wagstaff, was attacked at 2 a.m. this morning and £5O of the station’s takings was stolen. Mr Wagstaff had turned off the lights of toe station and was closing the premises when he was struck in the face and robbed. A passing taxi which he hailed followed two men in a car along the Hutt road but lost them. Two men, both aged 21. were detained by the police in Lower Hutt early this morning, and will appear in the Lower Hutt Magistrate’s Court tomorrow morning. Mr Wagstaff suffered minor abrasions. He was taken to the Hutt Hospital and discharged after treatment.
