POLICEMAN INJURED
Brawl At Hotel In Auckland (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 27. A policeman received a fractured jaw and several others received bruises and had their uniforms torn in a fracas which developed outside the Strand Hotel, Parnell, just before 6 p.m. on Saturday. The injured man, Constable Roy Ivan Nixon, aged 20, was treated at Auckland Hospital. Ten men were arrested after the incident and will appear in the Magistrate’s Court on various charges. Because of the nature of the brawl, the policemen did not draw their batons. Inspector P. J. McKenzie said there was too much danger of striking other policemen. At 10.30 p.m., another brawl in Waterloo quadrant resulted in the arrest of another five men.
