The commencing weekly wage for Nurse Trainees under 21 is £ll 0s 2d to £l3 3s Id gross depending on age plus approximately £1 17s 6d penal payment. One month’s leave on full pay is granted after the completion of every five months’ duty, or alternatively two weeks leave is granted after 51 months' duty. In addition to the above rates a minimum of £2 per week is payable in overtime. A full course of lectures is given to enable trainees to become State Registered Psychiatric Nurses. For Nurse Trainees 21 years and over the commencing weekly wage is £l3 15s 9d gross per week, plus £2 3s lOd penal payment. Where nurses elect to take two weeks’ leave after 51 months’ duty, a minimum of £2 7s per week is payable in overtime. Salary increments every 12 months to a maximum of £798 p.a. providing nurses are successful in their examinations. Where applicants do not wish to take their training they may be appointed as Assistant Nurses at a weekly salary of £9 14s 6d to £l2 9s 8d gross depending on age. In addition approximately £1 Ils per week is payable in' penal rates. Leave and overtime payments are the same as for Nurse Trainees, but on a reduced basis according to salary. Full uniforms, Including shoes and stockings, are available to all Nurses. Single accommodation in a well-appointed Nurses’ Home is available at a weekly charge of £2 5s Id or less.
