LONJXJN, January 24.
Freedom of the City of London was conferred on the High Commissioner for New Zealand (Sir Thomas Macdonald) by the City Chamberlain (Mr I. S. Smith) yesterday in a chamber of London’s Guildhall.
Sir Thomas Macdonald was referred tb as “a Citizen and Butcher of London,” and in reply he observed he was probably the only one present who had ever killed a sheep. Having been born in Invercargill, he was also probably the only Free-man to come from so far south.
