TIMARU. January 37. Union Rowing Club (Christchurch) now holds second place for the Canterbury Rowing Aasoctation's D.CL. Cup. The trophy la awarded for the dub gaining moat pointe over a aeriee of four provincial refattaa. After the Ttmaru ref*** <» Saturday, the second at the aeriee. Tlmaru had M pointe. Union 30. Canterbury 16. Avon 10 and Cure (Kaiapoi) and Akaroe 8 pointe each. A flm in the doubles. a second in the pair and a third in the singles of the senior section were the major contribution! to Unian’a pointe on Saturday. Eight clubs were represented at the regatta. The course had to be shortened because of a light easterly making a heavy awell across the mouth of the harbour and since the shortened courae was leae than half-s--mile the regatta became “nonstatu*. ®npire Games Gold Medalist tour gained a narrow victory in the main race of the day. North End (Dunedin) were second and Tlmaru third. These three were the only contestants in the race. Rowing for Union in the ronior doublet. B.
