MR McCORKINDALE
Mir J. T. McCorkiindaie, formerly managing director of Beaith and Company, Ltd.,
ahrtstohurdh, died an Saturday at Rotorua. Mr McCorkindale had been living at Lake Okaireka, near Rotorua, since soon after hiis retirement in July, 1960.
Mir McOorkindaie was in the soft-goods trade for about 45 years. Born and brought up in Gone, Southland, he moved in early manhood to
Auckland, Where he was employed by Milne and Choice, Ltd. He later moved to Hallenstein Brothers, Ltd., in Dunedin, and in 1944 to Bearths as assistant manager. He was soon made a director of Beaths and then, in April, 1948, managing director. Mr MoOorkindale was a noted horseman, and took an active part for many years in the Christchurch Hunt Club and the New Zealand Horse Society. He was also interested in pony societies. He exhibited horses many times in Shows.
He was also a’ keen goifer, playing to within six months of his death. In Christchurch
he belonged to the Christchurch Golf Club. He was a long-term member too of the Christchurch Tin Halt Club and the Christchurch Rotary Chib. Mr McOorktodale is survived by his wife and by bis daughter, Mrs L. Bates, of Inglewood. His only son, Lieutenant-Colonel K. D. McCortandaile, was killed in action in World War H.
