Government agencies continued rushing relief supplies to flood-stricken areas in Mindanao Island in th* southern Philippines a* rains fell again yesterday after on* rainless day. Week-tong rein* bet week had caused flood-waters to rise in the province of Agusan, Surigao del Sur and Misamis Oriental, but it was reported yesterday that th* floods were receding.
The death toll as of last night was unofficially placed at nine dead. Thousands are reported still homeless in th* flood areas.
Local authorities said ther* was fear that if the rains continue the floods would be a repetition of last year when the flood-waters swept over the same areas for about on* and a half months.
