Miss Fell Denied Leave To Appeal
(Spacial Correspondent NJ!PA.)
LONDON, Jan. 2L Miss Barbara Fell, aged 54, a former tap civil aervant in the British Central Office of Inforauti*n, today was denied leave to appeal against a twoyear prison sentence imposed for charge* under the Official Secrete Act. Miss Fell was gaoled last December for passing confidential Foreign Office documents to the press attache of the Jugoslav Embassy in London. Denying leave to appeal, the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Parker, said that although Miss Fell had served her country well in the past, and had had a distinguished
career, the Court could not overlook the fact that she had committed offence* over a two-year period. The Court considered the offence* *o aerious that a sentence of two years wa* appropriate. "The higher one’* position, th* greater one’s responsibility," Lord Parker said.
