Parfitt Hurt In N.S.W. Match
(N.Z Press Association—Copyright) NEWCASTLE, January 20. The English batsman, P. H. Parfitt, suffered a chipped bone in his right thumb while playing against the Central New South Wales eleven at the Newcastle sports ground yesterday.
The injury will keep Parfitt out of cricket for two weeks and has spoilt any chance he may have had of winning a place in the team for the fourth test in Adelaide next Friday. Parfitt suffered the injury when he took a chance to dismiss the Central New South Wales opening batsman, G. Boxsell.
The M.C.C. carried its overnight score from 244 to 319 and then dismissed Central New South Wales for 204. The M.C.C. at stumps had scored 41 without loss and appears to be in a strong position to force a win when the match is concluded tomorrow.
