KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS
Retrospective Pay Increases (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 17, Kindergarten teachers will get substantial pay increases to be retrospective to October last. The Minister of Education (Mr Tennent) said today that the majority of kindergarten teachers would get better sal. aries particularly those holding posts of responsibility. “I have no doubt the new salaries, while giving more recognition to the valuable work done by kindergarten teachers, will be of considerable assistance in the recruitment and retention of staff,” Mr Tennent said. There had long been a case for improved salaries. The. new scales had been approved by the Kindergarten Teachers’ Association and the Free Kindergarten Union, he said.
