An appeal is being made for farmer athletes tn attend a meeting on January 21 of the All Weather Track Committee of the Canterbury’ Centre. Set up earkier this month the committee consists mainly of younger persons, wha feel their work would benefit from the support of older people. ”If you would like to see Canterbury atthletes prominent in national and interna ticnal competition. then please g:ve us your ideas and support,” states the committee in a circular, which refers to some of the shortcomings of the facilities at present available in Canterbury. Award To Athlete (N .Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Dec. 16. The British, European, and Empire Games marathon champion, B. L. Kilby, was yesterday named "Athlete of the Year" by the British Amateur Athletic Association.
