North Shore Wins, 7-5 (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. December 16. The North Shore women’s lawn tennis team retained the Nuhneley Casket when it beet Waikato. 7-5. yesterday. A feature of the second day's play was the defeat of the former New Zealand champion. Mrs J. Tinnock (North Shore), by Mrs H. Corporaal. and the convincing win of Miss E. Terry (Waikato) over the prominent junior. Miss S. Clement. Results (North Shore names first) were:— Singles.—E. Green beat B. Paterson. 6-3. 6-1; S. Clement lost to E. Terry. 0-6. 3-6; J. Tinnock lost to H. Corporaal. 4-6. 6-2. 4-6; R. Ferkins lost to H Corporaal. 9-11. 3-6; beat R. Watson. 6-X 6-1. Doubles.—Green and Tinnock beat Terry and Paterson. 6-4. 6-3; beat Corporaal and Watson. 6-4. 6-0. Ferkins and Clement lost to Terry and Paterson, 3-6. 1-6; lost to Corporaal and Watson. 3-6. 7-9. No Ranking Matches There will be no senior ranking matches held by the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association at Wilding Park on Tuesday evening, but matches will probably be resumed when it is convenient in the new year. Ranking lists will be issued later thia week.
