169 Runs In 80 Minutes Accepting a challenge to score 169 for victory at the rate of two runs a minute, Kirwee beat the second-placed Hororata XI by seven wickets in the Malvern Cricket Sub-Association’s competition on Saturday. Kirwee. 58 runs behind on the first innings, was faced with scoring 169 in 85 minutes at the start of its second innings. But, with G. Wright scoring a splendid 100 the objective was reached with five minutes to spare. The leading team. Sheffield, slumped from 134 tor four to 155 all out against South Malvern at Glentunnel. The South Malvern pair. O. and R. Stuart, batted for two hours to share a fifth-wieket partnership of 85. but the team, in its turn, collapsed and Sheffield gained an easy seven-wicket win. In South Malvern’s second innings. C. Croy (Sheffield) achieved figures of two for 7 off 15 eightball overs Greendale was well in command of its game against Darfield when events took an unexpected turn. Darfield had lost eight tor 117 in its second innings, and required 20 to avert an innings defeat. But J. Gunn and B. Johnson added 100 for the ninth wicket and turned what appeared to be a certain outright defeat into a first innings loss. Points after six rounds are: Sheffield 33, Hororata 24.
