Pope “Very Sick”

LIVERPOOL, December 18. The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Liverpool, Dr. John Heenan, said last night that Pope John is “a very sick man, but so very brave." Dr. Heenan recently re* turned from the Vatican, where he attended the Ecu* metrical Council. In London the "News of the World" said the 81-yeer-old Pope has cancer. It said its source was Churchmen recently returned from Rome. The newspaper said the Pope knew that he had little time to live.
Dr. Heenan told reporters he had no details of any illness and had heard nothing to suggest the Pope had cancer. “When I saw hto Hohness a week ago, however, he looked a very sick mao.** the Archbishop added. On that day authoritative Vatican quarters denied alarming reports about the Pope's health.
