TUBERCULOSIS ASSOCIATION
£1307 Raised By Appeal The annual street appeal, held on November 16 in aid of the work of the Canterbury and West Coast Tuberculosis Association resulted in the gross amount of £1307 being received to date. This sum exceeds the amount received during the last few years. The report received at the monthly meeting of toe executive of the association showed that £1237 had been collected on the streets and nearly £7O was given as donations. Further sums may yet be received. Appreciation of the good work done by the organiser, Mrs B. Goulden and the association’s secretary, Mr B. F. Anderson, was expressed by members. A report from the architect (Mr P. Pascoe) setting out a proposed plan for improvements to the association’s cottage at Arthur's Pass was discussed. The plan included the rebuilding of the veranda which commands a fine view, and the installing of an electric stove and electric paints and some minor improvements. It was decided that the architect’s suggestions should be carried out. final arrangements to be left in the hands of the president (Mr C. A Rattray) and Mr Anderson.
A photograph showing one facet of toe association’s work for sufferers from tuberculosis, submitted by Dr. T. O. ' En.ticott, was approved and will be sent to the Riccarton-Horoby Junior Chamber which had offered to include such a picture in their pictorial record of Christchurch. Mr L. Wilson was welcomed to the committee, replacing Dr. J. R. Turner, who had resigned as the representative of the Christchurch South Rotary Club.
