LONG SERVICE RECOGNISED

Presentations To Two Members

Miss B. Fynes-Clinton, who has been a member of the Hospital Lady Visitors’ Association for 39 years and who is an honorary Life member, recently retired from the office of convener of the sewing circle after many years of outstanding service. When the association met for its annual meeting yesterday, the president (Mrs F. E. Wait) presented Miss Fynes-Clinton with a book and a bouquet of roses in appreciation of her work. Miss Fynes-Clinton, who has also been a committee member, was responsible for cutting out garments ait the sewing circle, a task in which she specialised. “Miss Fynes-Clinton has in her possession a pair of cutting-out scissors of which she is justly proud,” said Mrs Wait “They were presented

to her during World War I for being the cutter who could produce the largest number of pyjamas out of a bolt of material—doing even better than a master cutter.” With these scissors she had worked for the hospital in the association's sewing circle with the same results, said Mrs Wait Mrs Wait also presented Mrs D. G. Radcliffe, a member for 20 years, with a book token. Mrs Radcliffe recently retired from the committee and from the office of Christchurch Hospital librarian.
