Disciplinary Moves (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright OXFORD (Mississippi), November 29. Mississippi University and six other Mississippi State colleges were put on “extraordinary status”—a form of probation—today by the integrated Southern Association of Schools and Colleges for permitting the Mississippi State Governor (Mr Ross Barnett) to interfere with the enrolment of the negro, Mr James Meredith, in September. United Press International reported. The association decided not to end accreditation at the school after a promise from Mr Barnett that there would be no more political interference in the operation of the colleges.
