Fortune-Teller Fined
(NX. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 27 Fortune-tolling was a dangerous practice which had to be stamped out, said Mr F McCarthy. S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland today. Betty Hagan, aged 56. a housewife, pleaded guilty when she appeared before him on a charge of fortunetelling for gain. She was convicted and fined £5. The Magistrate said the practee of fortune-telling often led to a lot of sorrow "People go back and forth to these people relying on advice which is based on pure guesswork and quite often leads to tragedy.” he said.
