ADDITIONAL PATROLS
Discontinuation In Holidays Delegates to the Canterbury Surf-Life-Saving Association last night voted to discontinue the additional patrols which had been on trial this month—during the school holiday period. The experience of clubs had been that it was hard enough to maintain ordinary patrols during the Christmas-New Year holidays, let alone cover additional areas The president (Mr S. D. Tarrant) said that, in any case, the paid patrolmen would be on duty during the period concerned. Carnival officials appointed for the season were:— Referee. Mr S. B. Mason; assistant referee, Mr F. L. Mitchell; marshal, Mr L. J. Tointon; assistant marshal. Mr J. Moore; carnival secretary. Mr M. B. Restall; starter. Mr G. Shannon; chief timekeeper. Mr D. M. Richardson; announcer, Mr A. N. Staples: computing stewards. Messrs Restall. W. I. Boyce, J. Thompson. D Hume, and J. Groom.
Messrs G. G. Prattley. C. O’Neill, and S. D. Tarrant were reappointed Canterbury selectors. and Messrs R. Claxton and P. Goosey were elected to the executive.
