SCHOOL SITE AT NEW BRIGHTON
The Ministry of Works has been asked to carry out an engineering survey of a 29aere site at North New Brighton to determine its suitability as a post-primary school site, according to advice received by the Christchurch Post-primary Schools' Council from the Department of Education.
Of a previous application by the council for four additional classrooms for Linwood High School, the department said it “hoped this would be possible" in a final approved programme.
The council had now a'-quired three house properties adjacent to the i Christchurch West High i School, the latest acquisition being 7 Purdie street it was reported. It was decided to seek departmental approval for the demolition of the houses.
