EAST ASIAN CHURCH
Addresses In City This Week "This week the people of Christchurch will have a rare opportunity of hearing three of the outstanding figures in the East Asian Church—Dr. D. T. Niles, of Ceylon, Mr M. M. Thomas, of India, and Dr. J. Fleming, of Singapore,” said the chairman of the Christchurch branch of the National Council of Churches (the Very Rev. S. C. Francis) yesterday. "For two reasons 1 warmly commend this event to all thinking people of Canterbury; first, because the eyes of the whole world are turned just now to East Asia; second, because politically, socially, economically, and religiously, we in New Zealand are destined to be deeply involved in the future of East Asia. Here are three men who speak with the voice of authority, and whose words should be heard and heeded,” Mid Mr Francis.
