N.Z. Second In Teams Match

In its first teams match, the Gordon Highlanders Challenge Trophy, for teams of eight, the New Zealand rifle team tied with Tasmania, but was placed second on the count-back.

New Zealand had three misses to Tasmania’s two. H. F. Tattersfleld shot a possible on the snap disc. Team scores were Tasmania 370. New Zealand 370, South Australia 361, New South Wales 360, Western Australia 350, land 325. and Victoria 306. New Zealand's scores were:— H F Tattensfleld 50. D. J. Caughley 49, R. I. Ballinger 48. J. T. Petersen 48, J. W. Johnson 47. J. Q. Donald 44, A. Ch archer 43. and M. G. Gordon 41.

The match between Australia and New Zealand for the Colonial Ammunition Trophy—first contested at Trentham in 1961 was won by Australia, with a total of 1086. to New Zealand’s 1078.

Top individual scorer was Ballinger, with 96. Other New Zealand scores were: Donald 92, J. Petersen 92. N. C. Petersen 91, Churcher 91, Johnson 90. D. Whiteman 90. Caughlev 89, T. N. Sutherland 88, Tattersfleld 87. R. Gurney 87. and I. G. Campbell 85.

Snell Names Wedding Day (N£. Prets Association) AUCKLAND, November 20. The world mile and halfmil® record-holder, P. G. Snell, has named July 27 as the tentative date for his wedding to Miss Sally Turner, of Papakura. The date means he would be able to undertake a suggested six-week tour of America with his coach, Mr A. L Lydiard, and the world threemile record-holder, M. G. Haiberg, in May-June.
