Air Vice-Marshal J. F. Hobler will arrive at Wellington today from Canberra on a private visit He is air officer in charge of administration of the Far East Air Force at Singapore.—(PA.) The Dean of Wellington (the Very Rev. D. J. Davies) will retire this month after 25 years at the Cathedral Church of St Paul and 47 years in the ministry.—(P.A.) The Rev. F. J. Green, Presbyterian army chaplain at Burnham, has completed his term as army chaplain and is returning to parish ministry. He will be inducted to the parish at Orakei. in Auckland. on December 6.
Dr. Sydney Northcote will arrive in Christchurch on Thursday to assist with the practical grade examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Mr A D. Shand has been admitted as an associate fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management. Messrs F. B. Dobbs. J E Turner, and J. M. O’Brien have been admitted as associate members.
Mr G'. B. C. Bliss has been appointed first assistant at Aranui High School. His appointment was made at a special meeting of the school’s board of governors late last month and was confirmed at last evening’s monthly board meeting. Before taking up his new appointment Mr Bliss was on the teaching staff at Naenae College.
Mr R. C. Neville, chairman of the Christchurch Drainage Board’s construction committee since its inception, and as such largely responsible for committee supervision of the new sewage treatment plant, was presented with an album of photographs showing the plant’s progress at the board meeting last evening.
