WOOL SALE AT NAPIER

Competition Well Spread (N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER. November 19. Competition was fairly well spread and bidding was brisk throughout the day on the second day of the Napier wool sale. The pattern was similar to that of the first day with the principal operators being the Continent with support from America for carpet wools and local mills in the market for wools suitable to their requirements. This is stated in the official report issued by the Hawke’s Bay Woolbrokers’ Association in conjunction -with the New Zealand Wool Buyers’ Association and tlie New Zealand Wool Commission. Today 23.900 bales of greasy wool were offered to a fully representative bench of buyers under strong competition.

Prices, compared with the first day, could be quoted as strong wools, slightly dearer skirtings, second shear and crutchings. very firm, and mixed quality hogget wool, a shade easier. The offering was fairly comparable to that of Friday, and comprised mostly hogget wool with a smaller quantity of ewe, wether early shorn and second shear wools. The wool opened up in very good order as a result of the favourable winter conditions which prevailed right up to shearing. Price Range
