The injured policeman subsequently recovered and managed to stagger to his patrol car and drive oft in search of the assailants. Meanwhile, the man who had asked the police to intervene at the party telephoned again to report that the constable had been assaulted. Another patrol car immediately left for the house and found Constable Adams in his car. He was rushed to hospital.
