Dr. J. A. Allan was granted the status of principal emeritus, and Dr. J. Henderson the status of professor emeritus, by the Presbyterian General Assembly in Wellington yesterday. Both men, who have recently retired from offices of the Theological Hall, Knox College, were granted seats on the Presbytery of Dunedin.—(P.A.) Mr B. L. Hurrell, of Masterton, has been appointed head of Jaycee International's extension and membership commission. Bates, formerly warden of Arana Hall, Dunedin, and now of St. Kilda, Dunedin, was appointed representative to the fourth world conference on faith and order to be held at Montreal next year by the Presbyterian General Assembly in Wellington yesterday.—(P.A.) Mr John Hopkins, conductor of the National Orchestra, left Auckland by air tonight for Honolulu. He will conduct the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra in two concerts and return to New Zealand next week.—(P.A.)

Mr Kenneth Burbridge, Canadian Consul-General at Seattle, will succeed Mr G. R. Heasman as Canadian High Commissioner in New Zealand, He is expected to take up his new post early next year.—(P.A.)
