IMPLEMENT DESIGN
The first gold medal awarded in the implement section of the show for several years was won by P. and D. Duncan, Ltd., yesterday with a cultivator. The judges were Messrs D. L. King, W. Oakley and A. Mulholland. There were two entries in the section for implements for the cultivation of the soil. The second entry was a roller drill.
Mr King said the cultivator had some interesting design features which were considered attempts to improve the performance of a well used implement In the class for persons not connected with the manufacture or sale of farm machinery Mr J. S. J. McCastey was awarded a silver nedal for his entry of a mobile bulk grain loader. It was considered by the judges to be of very neat and efficient design, considering that it was made by a young farmer in a farm workshop Mr P. Taylor was awarded a certificate of merit in the section for implements for harvesting and treatment of products of the soil with his entry of a rear-mounted buck lift for handling baled hay.
