MOTORWAY IN PARK
Comments Mild So Far
Comments on the master transportation plan for metropolitan Christchurch so fair were confined to one aspect—the proposed motorway going through the north-end of Hagley Park, commented the chairman (Mr E. J. Bradshaw) yesterday when the authority considered the next steps on developing the plan.
“The comments have not been other than mild and not very great in volume,” he said.
“It is a pity if the public is going to confine its attention to this one aspect of the plan. There are many proposals affecting much property and the sights of the public generally and local bodies must be focussed on the plan as a whole, and not just on one aspect that has caught the public’s fancy at present. “It is now over to the councils to make their comments,” he said. The authority had agreed to receive comments and suggestions up to the end of March before proceeding to make the plan part of itp regional scheme.”
