BRIGGS ROAD DRAIN
County Council’s Responsibility The Waimairi County Council could solve the problem of piping the Briggs road drain if it was prepared to alter priorities, the Christchurch Drainage Board replied to a petition from 36 residents supporting the Briggston School Committee's request for piping of the drain. To the “regularly recurring request,” Mr H. F. Page, chief
engineer (operations), said the piping Of the drain was No. 10 on the county council's list of priorities. The board had agreed to share the cost of tidying the banks of the drain with the council, which had said the work would be done in the reasonably near future. The cost of piping the drain was estimated at £6500 for a COin diameter sewer.
