Aberdeen Angus Champion At Royal Show

(New Zealand Press Association) HASTINGS, October 17. A two-year-old imported Aberdeen Angus bull, exhibited by Mr F. N. Hoggard, the well-known Pahiatua breeder, of Totaranui Stud, won the Meat and Wool Cup for the supreme champion beef animal at the Royal Show today. The winning bull was bought by Mr Hoggard at the Perth sale and came to New Zealand in September last year. It is Proctor of Westdrums by Eros of Wych Cross out of Proud Dilys of Westdrums.

Judges of Aberdeen Angus. Beef Shorthorn, Hereford, and Galloway cattle were unanimous in their judgment that this was the best beef animal of the eight paraded before them.

Second place in the competition went to the Hereford bull. Kauri Gem, entered by the Gisborne breeders, F. E. Humphreys and Son.

A Beef Shorthorn cow with calf at foot, R. C. and N. D. Williams’s Waikaha Beaufort Pansy, and a Gallaway bull. Massey College's Halo of Massey, were equal third.

F. W. Jarman was the Meat and Wool Cup winner for mutton breeds, with a Southdown ram, and Mrs J. M. Jarman was second with a Suffolk ram.

In the wool breeds section, W. M. Bishell, of Blenheim, was first with a Lincoln, and Rannoch Trust was second with a Romney.
