Family Record Of Longevity Mirs L B. Jordan, of Innes road, Christchurch, will celebrate her ninety-fifth birthday today. She comes from a family with a history of longevity. Her mother and grandmother lived till they were 96, and her sister-in-law, Mrs H. Dickson of Auckland, was recently 100 years old. Although she has been bedridden for eight years, has lost the use of one hand and has difficulty in seeing and hearing, Mrs Jordan retains a spry, lively mind. Her favour, ite occupation is to pass the time of day talking with friends and relatives. Born in Nelson of a pioneer family, Mrs Jordan has lived 54 years in Christchurch. During that time she has worked hard for the Plunket Society and the Friends of St. George’s Hospital, and was a skilled needlewoman. Mrs Jordan has a son and a daughter, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She lives with her daughter (Miss A. Jordan) in the house built for the family when they first moved to Christchurch. Mr Jordan was a Government auditor.
