Naval Escort For Yacht
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Sept. 18.
The Royal New Zealand Navy will provide an escort for the Royal yacht Britannia while she is in New Zealand waters, but final details have not yet been worked out.
It is quite possible that the Queen will have a naval escort of at least three ships when she sails from Waitangi for Auckland. The acting Prime Minister (Mr Hanan) is making “strong representations" to the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) in London after the announce-
ment of the Royal tour itinerary.
“I have seen the proposed itinerary, but I would prefer not to comment pending the outcome of strong recommendations,” he told his press conference today.
