WORK AT MANGERE

Machines Begin Again (MZ. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 17. The Ministry of Works today began the final formation work for the Auckland international airport at Mangere.

Twenty of the 150 earthmoving machines, which have been awaiting fine weather and dry ground, began and the number will be increased until the entire fleet is again on the job The project engineer (Mr E A Flynn) said today that the rate of increase in the number of earth-moving machines used would depend entirely on the weather. The Ministry of Works still had between 300,000 and 400.000 cubic yards of soil to shift and hoped to finish the job within the next four months.
